The Standard 13053-1 describes the business improvement methodology known as Six Sigma. The methodology consists of five phases: define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC). The standard suggests

The Standard 13053-2 describes the tools and techniques, illustrated by folders, to be used in each phase of the DMAIC method.
