UNI EN 14256 Adhesives for wood – for non-structural use
UNI EN 14256 Adhesives for wood – for non-structural use
Test method and requirements for the load resistance
The UNI EN 14 256 wants to define the method for determining the ability of a test specimen bonded to a thermoplastic adhesive substance to tolerate a force for a certain time period without having to be present breakage or modifications determining also the CYCLE of life.
Along with the above specific to a proper evaluation should also be applied to the following specifications: EN 204 and EN 205 groups that track and durability test criteria corresponding to wood adhesives no structural in regard to their resistance to ‘ water and applied loads.
The references to standards mentioned below are essential for a precise application of this standard:
EN 205
EN 923
EN 13183-1
EN 13183-2
The tests on the specimens must be made first of all in a climate controlled environment and samples must be geometrically symmetrical. The following will be performed the test with constant cutting force until you determine the failure of the joint (More detailed information, please refer to the UNI 14256 ENA).
The own for performing the tests on the specimens must be as follows:
Supports to hold the specimens
Weights
Climatic chamber capable of maintaining temperature and humidity according to specification.
The specimen preparation will be in accordance to the specifications of standard EN 205:2003
The test procedure will follow the clauses of the standard described in section 6.2 and 5.1
The test will be considered failure will occur when a rupture of the specimens or when the two specimens it will find in contact after their bending
Elements which must then be exhaustively reported in the test report are as follows:
For the adhesive material
type and origin of the adhesive;
lot number or other marking that uniquely identifies the adhesive used;
number of components and processing methods (method of preparation and adhesive application);
if known, the class of durability (for information only).
For the preparation of test specimens a) wood species with the scientific name;
b) moisture content of the wood on the oven dry mass second the EN13183-1, or electrical method second the EN13183-2;
c) characteristic data relating to the procedure of bonding (for example, information on the amount of adhesive applied, the assembly time opened and closed, pressing pressure, pressing temperature, pressing time);
d) special surface treatment of the boards to be glued (for example sanding with the sandpaper);
e) time interval between the end of the pressing and cutting of test;
f) number of specimens glued.
