Equipment monitoring and measurement
Every business organization must take into account the activities to be under monitoring and measurement, as well as all the equipment that must be kept under control in order to give proper evidence of conformity of the processes or products through the application of analytical processes.
The best way to achieve a proper monitoring and measurement is that the organization itself with processes in line with the objectives it has set itself.
“Do not just build a product and try to sell it. Design it and after reengineering and try to bring the process under control, increasing, at the same time, the Quality “W. Edwards Deming
The equipment in order to give proper evidence of the results generated must be kept under calibration, and examined at intervals clearly defined, using them knowing their degree of uncertainty and if this degree can be “tolerated” for the needs of measurement requirements.
Of these controls, there must be a register and a card tool in order to write down all of the tests.
Should without exception report:
Identification code of the device (internal serialization)
Type of instrument measurement
Date of purchase
Serial number
Where the instrument will be located
Company that produced it
Unit of measure
Accuracy
Measuring range and relative tolerances
Calibration procedure and their outcomes
It will be a historical file, tidy and well maintained both in size and in substance
A proper management of the documentation should define critical measurements to be made for each individual project, measurements that are going to encounter and uncertainty associated with them.
The calibration of a measuring device allows you to improve the organization’s processes
and increase the quality of the products so as to improve the relationship between resulting cost / benefit
The equipment must also be clearly identified, this will involve the adoption of identification plates where must clearly show very clearly the state of validity of the calibration.
The label should contain the following data:
Identification code of the device (internal serialization)
Type of instrument measurement
Date of purchase
Serial number
The equipment must also be stored and handled with care and attention, in order to ensure proper validity of the results generated.
If there is evidence that the equipment no longer meet the more the degree of accuracy for the measurements that must go to experience, the organization must implement all actions in order to segregate such an apparatus and to take all measures to guarantee product previously subjected to measurements and controls.
